Hey friends, not to worry, we're still remxing in our "spare time" when we're not working hard on the new record. Check out our remix of Braids - Lemonade we had a blast putting this one together. enjoy! Braids - Lemonade - Green Go Remix
It has officially begun! We just spent our first weekend at boombox sound in Toronto working with Roger Leavens on our brand new album! Here is a quick glimpse at what we'll be doing for the next few months, there's lot's of work to do, but we're really exited to get to it!
Boombox is pretty much heaven for any musician, especially ones like myself who absolutely love synths and drum machines...
Not only does this Brooklyn based band have one of the sickest typeset i have ever seen, they also make great music. I've been listening to this track on repeat for the last week or so, great stuff... here is the video :
fezz: Let's aim higher... mark: i love it that i get to be the storm trooper and i just watched the original star wars last night as i fell asleep...fez you read minds you little graphic manipulator you...
So we took a break from recording to play a gig.. ( i hear bands do that every now and then) we made our way up to Laurentian University, and met some lovely people, both in the audience and back stage... Mother Mother was the headlining band, they were such nice people! and amazingly together and impressive on stage! Our next gig is in north bay ( Nipissing ) opening for Girl Talk, which we are equally as exited about! We start our studio time very soon too! so in general we are an excited group of folks!
so yes... we made this big promise to bring you a new and exiting track every week.. and i broke it.. to make up for this i'm choosing two songs to share with you!
the first is this interesting video/sampling song by faggotron( at least that's his youtube username) i like the concept, and the song is actually really great!
the second song i want to share with you is a new track by Sufjan Stevens called "Too much" i'm really exited for the new album as he's clearly be diving into the more electronic side of recording, and its sounding like nothing i've ever heard. Sufjan's new album The Age of Adz drops on Oct 12th! so look out for that! Sufjan Stevens - Too Much
Thats all for now!
Fezz out!
p.s We're Playing Laurentian University in Sudbury this Saturday with Mother Mother! It's our first show in a while, due to our recording hibernation, so we're pretty exited!
We had a blast this weekend Djing Lauren Schreiber ( Of No Shame Music Series), and Kevin Sasaki. Lauren has been so good to the band over the years and we were super happy to be a part of the event..
To make things even better The Magic, Think About life, and Bonjay played the party making it one of the greatest wedding receptions on the planet.
Found this today, its Jbeebz's u-smile slowed down 800% using a special time stretching software, you can actually stretch a song one million times its length! Listen to this, its great to put on and enjoy the whole thing.. I haven't been able to turn it off. it sounds like angels.
Get the software to make your own super stretched out songs here. I think we might use this program somewhere on the new album. or we'll release an epic 4 day long version of the whole album... who knows..
I've been listening to this track for about a month now, and i just love coming back to it. It really doesn't get old on me and gives me a warm fuzzy (panda like) feeling in my belly.
This week's track ( our first track of the week ever! ) come from one of my favorite blogs out there. Dollar Bin Jams. They always post some of the craziest shit out there... old stuff too! We love vinyl rips! Fell free to send us tracks or clips you think are great.. we'll likely post them here. green.go.music@gmail.com
Also if you're a Hypem.com user you can follow me (fezz) at www.hypem.com/liveactionfezz to see what tracks i've recently loved.
I love this song because it comes in so strong right from the start, and the orchestra stabs and vocals take it to the top. Don't be afraid to pump this one! Gotta love the long instrumental near the end too... i feel like "classic" comes to mind. Leftside Wobble - Grapevine
"i've just arrived in moncton and the weather is beautiful. i went for a run this morning and got attacked by a small group of kids, one of the little pricks shot me in the side of the neck with his pettet gun. i thought i was just cramping up at first but then noticed the blood on my shirt. kids will be kids!"
Recently we took a weekend to record 3 demos for our factor grant application, this was our first time setting up a full studio and recorded our own bed tracks ( drums and bass ). We rented all the gear we needed and it ended up turning out a lot better than we had anticipated. I'll be posting some videos soon, as well as some older archived pics of the band... ahhh nostalgia.
my favorite part of this pic ^^^ is the baseball memorabilia on the walls... or is it the lazer beams slashing through the image... not sure.
These remixes have been out for quite some time now, but we figured it'd be good to post a link here too. We had great fun this time around remixing our friends Woodhands, Diamond Rings, Gregory Pepper and Think About Life. There's also a bonus remix of our own tune " Watch Your Step". All the remixes were mixed with Roger Leavens at Boombox Sound in toronto. Roger is known for working with DD/MM/YYYY, Woodhands and The RAA, so we're really exited to be working with him on our new album. These remixes are just a taste of what the new album might sound like... so turn off the lights, plug in your party lights and have yourself a little dance party, on us. TO DOWNLOAD CLICK HERE
The band has been super busy lately writing new music, making remixes, and recording a brand new album. We all thought it would be great fun to share more with all of you, so check back here every so often and look for clips and pics of us at work in the studio , as well as downloads for tracks we've remixed , nonsense and fun!
Looking forward to sharing what we do with you. hope you're all having a great summer
